Happy New Year!!

I hope you enjoyed the holiday season. I am usually feeling a little stressed, this year I seemed to be a little a head of the game. And instead of driving myself crazy trying to get the perfect gift, I gave out some gift cards!!

I was fortunate to have time off during the holidays and I even stamped some swaps.

Here is one of my favorite Christmas cards this year, the next is a luminary that we learned how to make in my technique group, and we made it at the Christmas party for ladies in my downline.

The next two cards are made from the nature walk stamp set that is in the mini catalog.

Rock and Roll Marathon

I think most of you are aware that I am going to walk in the Rock and Roll Marathon in June. I am not athletic, but when the Ronald McDonald house was looking for volunteers to do this as a fundraiser, I couldn't say no! So I am going to do this June 26th. Ronald McDonald House

I want thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers yesterday for my nephew Adam. Adam was hurt in Hockey practice on Monday night. His chest was hurting and he heart rate was pretty low. He went into the ER, was transferred to Harborview and then later transferred to Children's Hospital. When I left  last night he was doing much better, I think he will be sore for a while but it looks like he will be going home today. And it appears instead of trauma to the heart, his heart rate was low because he is just very athletic!!

As some of you know I volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House once a month. We go up and stamp with the families that are staying there and receiving care at Children's Hospital. The kids look forward to making cards and projects with us! This month it was so busy I didn't have a chance to take pictures of the cards that Karen brought for the everyone to stamp. So I will share the share our swaps! I even had one this month, but I gave them all away, so I will make a new one and post it soon.

Tropical Party

This card is using the Tropical Party set from the Summer Mini Catalog. This is my swap that is due at the end of the month! Can you believe it? I am done early! I know it is surprising, a lot of times I am a procrastinator. But not this month!! You should be receiving your Summer Mini Catalog any day, you can look at this set and all of the new sets and accessories!

 

This set reminds me of Summer of course and that makes me thing of Red Mango (even though Karen and I had it for dinner on Thursday.)  Red Mango is the Best frozen yogurt! We go to the store up at University Village when we are going to the Ronald McDonald House. Well you can find about anything on the internet, so I have found a recipe that says it takes the same as Red Mango. I haven't tried it yet, since I don't have a ice cream maker. But I am guessing I will have one by this weekend! So the next stamp camp at my house, you will get to try it!!


 RED MANGO:
– 2 C plain yogurt (greek style yielded the best results)
– 1/2 C sugar (a little less than 1/2 cup, actually)
– 1/2 C milk
– between 1/8 – 1/4 tsp xanthan gum
– Mix ingredients together, follow directions for your ice cream maker (Cuisinart – 25 minutes)

Eat as is or top with your favorite fruit…or mini chocolate chips if you feel so inclined!

Xanthan gum, which works as an emulsifier. It keeps ice crystals from forming, so you get a creamier texture. Xanthan gum is what made the difference in Red Mango. You can find it at Whole Foods and other such stores.  It is also used frequently in gluten-free cooking, if you were wondering.)
